Warren Buffett’s Investment Advice: Invest in Yourself

Warren Buffett, one of America’s wealthiest people, is famously followed for his investing views and strategies.

And why not?  As chairman of Berkshire Hathaway, Buffett has led his company, through acquisitions and investments, to exponential growth.  A $1,000 investment in Berkshire Hathaway in 1959 is worth $25 million today!
And yet Buffett, known as the “Oracle of Omaha,” is now talking about an investment that is even greater.  During the Q&A session at Berkshire Hathaway’s annual meeting in 2008, Buffett said:

DARE TO RISK: THE PAYOFFS ARE AWESOME!

Risk is worth taking. It doesn’t matter what risk you take, the fact that you step out of your comfort zone and take the leap amps up your self-confidence immeasurably.                                                                                                                                                                               Risk taking is the key to breaking out of your stuck thinking and behavior.  It challenges your concept of reality.                                                                                                                                             Some of you spend a tremendous amount of time in your head, creating additional dilemmas that aren’t necessary.

"5 Reasons Why Dreams Don’t Take Flight" By: John C. Maxwell

Most of us never see our dreams come true. Instead of soaring through the clouds, our dreams languish like a broken-down airplane confined to its hangar. Through life, I have come to identify five common reasons why dreams don’t take flight.

1. We Have Been Discouraged from Dreaming by Others

We have to pilot our own dreams; we cannot entrust them to anyone else. People who aren’t following their own dreams resent us pursuing ours. Such people feel inadequate when we succeed, so they try to drag us down.

If we listen to external voices, then we allow our dreams to be hijacked. At some point, other people will place limitations on us by doubting our abilities. When surrounded by the turbulence of criticism, we have to grasp the controls tightly to keep from being knocked off course.

It’s one of our brain’s most natural and powerful talents. Countless people all over the world have used this “law” to attract wealth and abundance to themselves and the people they love.
So why have so many more tried and failed?

Many people want to transform their lives one way or another. They want to experience change that will improve their lives. Just look at the number of people who have a New Year’s resolution list every start of the year. They want to change something in their lives, no matter how little, and make themselves better individuals.
However, life transformation is not as easy as other people think it is. It takes a lot of discipline and willpower to stop doing things that you have been doing for many years and start doing something new.

You should have the right frame of mind and be in a good emotional and spiritual state before you can transform your life into something much better.

Have you ever wished you could go back in time and have a conversation with one of the greatest minds in history? Well, you can’t sorry, they’re dead. Unless of course you’re clairaudient, be my guest. But for the rest of us, we can still refer to the words they left behind.
Even though these great teachers have passed on, their words still live, and in them their wisdom. I’ve made a list of seven what I believe are some of the greatest teachings by the world’s greatest minds.

No Time is No Excuse

Saying “I don’t have time” to your dreams is not an excuse not to do them. Everyone’s day has 24 hours, or 1, 440 minutes, or 86,400 seconds. We have time… we just use it elsewhere. Time is abundant, but it is also a rare resource if you don’t know how to use it wisely.

When you want something bad enough, you make the time… No Matter What! if you want to start that dream business, and you don’t have time to pursue it, use 1 hour a day to plan and build that business. Make every single day count.

In almost every speaking engagement I’ve been to, people will approach me and say I want to be a speaker in the future, or  want to write a book someday…But (you know what’s coming next) “I don’t have time!”

Don’t let what happened to you change the value of your life

Nanay Coring - The National Bookstore Story

Nanay Coring or also known as Coring Ramos, owner of the largest chain of bookstores across the country. Her story is truly an inspiring one as she built the bookstore business from scratch three times with a lot of challenges.

Nanay Coring was born in Sta Cruz, Laguna on Sept 1923. She was one of the six children born to entrepreneur parents and grandparents. Her parents used to run a store selling a lot of stuff while her grandparents had a market stall where young Coring got used to see customers get their item on credit. As time goes her grandparents did not manage the business carefully because of too much credit and their business fell.

A year after they went to Manila. Their parent struggled hard to feed their six children. Her elder sisters help their family by working in a bubble gum factory. Coring spend her summer vacations doing summer jobs from working on a candy factory to peeling off papers from used cigarette sticks and selling them to cigarette factories for 5 centavo per pack. From then on young Coring started her entrepreneurial skills, she hired kids paying them 5 centavos for every 2 pack of cigarettes. As early as 10 years old she was practicing business and leveraging.

Bad Attitudes and Habits of Filipinos that Need to Change

Not all of us share this qualities but do not feel offended if you know that you're doing some of this instead change and be better. Let us improve our selves as we learn what are the negative things we always do.

"Kaya Mo!"

Are you thinking of doing something that's very ambitious?

Wait for a few seconds.

You'll hear a voice in your head saying... "Hindi mo kaya yan." Four ordinary words, but when you put it together, it's deadly. It will instantly kill your idea. Negativity will follow.

How to Become Money Wise?

You've been promoted. Your business picked-up. Your investments are performing better.

And now, you're earning a lot more money. It keeps pouring in.

So, you start buying this and upgrading that. Now, you try restaurants that you used to call as "overrated." You're now swipping your plastic more often – as if you were in Time Zone.

"So, this is how it feels to succeed", you tell yourself. You've worked hard. Why not enjoy it?

Mañana Habbit - "Mamaya na lang"

The Mañana Habit is something that we have learned from the Spaniards. The word "Mañana" means ‘tomorrow’ or ‘specified future time’ also known as “procrastination” in plain English, “mamaya na” in Filipino.

How it Works:
  1. You need to do something now.
  2. But then you decide to do it later.
  3. As a result of the delay, you end up not doing it.
  4. Now, you tell yourself or somebody that you will do it tomorrow.
  5. Tomorrow comes. The same cycle happens.
A habit is a pattern of behavior that is acquired through frequent repetition. No amount of planning or preparation can change this. The only way to change a habit is to replace it with another habit.
